Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2)
The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Bereavement Ministry seeks to represent the entire parish community in supporting those who have lost a loved one. With more than 100 funerals per year, the Bereavement ministry members are busy providing support by going to viewings at funeral homes to pay respects in the name of the parish, and to make contact with the key family member(s). Families are given a card containing the bereavement minister’s contact information, as an invitation for outreach as the family member deems helpful. The minister also offers to pray at the casket with family members, as well as promising ongoing prayers for the soul of the deceased, and for the deceased’s loved ones. The family member is also given the name of our pastoral associate, also a nationally certified and licensed counselor, in the event that further support is needed.
Our parish family can always be blessed by more ministers to serve in our various charitable ministries. For more information about becoming a minister/member, or for more information about being a beneficiary of the good works of our various ministries, please contact Tess Keddie, Pastoral Associate: 412-857-5356 or tkeddie@cgscatholic.org.
